Before You Start

Here are some things to know before you begin this process.

  • Audiences must include at least 20 people to be used for Facebook Ads.
  • To create an audience from a segmentof your list, export the segment from your MailChimp account, and upload the file to Facebook.
  • Facebook Custom Audiences do not update automatically as subscribers are added to your MailChimp list. You'll need to rebuild your audience each time you want to create a targeted ad for them. 

From Facebook Ads Creation

To set up a Facebook Custom Audience from Facebook Ad creation, follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your Facebook account and create a new ad.
  2. On step 1 of the ad creation, choose the objective for your ad campaign, and type in any required information. 
  3. On step 2 of the ad creation, type in the country, currency, and time zone for your account.
  4. Scroll to the Who do you want your ads to reach? section on step 3 of the ad creation, and click Create New Custom Audience . 
  5. In the Create Custom Audience pop-up modal, click Customer List. 
  6. Click Import from MailChimp. 
  7. Click Log in to MailChimp.
  8. In the Connect Facebook Custom Audiences to your account pop-up modal, input your MailChimp login credentials, and click Log In. 
  9. Check the boxes next to the lists you want to use to create your audience, and click Create Audience. 

After you choose your list, Facebook displays a confirmation modal. Click Done and continue through the VidiGlitch Review          
It may take up to 30 minutes to import your list and create your audience. You'll receive a Facebook notification when your audience is ready. Navigate to the Audiences tab to see audience overviews including the Name, Type, Source, Size, and Availability.

  1. From the Ads Manager dashboardin your Facebook account, click Audiences in the navigation panel. 
  2. On the Audiences page, click Create a Custom Audience. 
  3. In the Create a Custom Audience pop-up modal, click Customer List. 
  4. Click Import from MailChimp . 
  5. Click Log in to MailChimp.
  6. In the Connect Facebook Custom Audiences to your account pop-up modal, input your MailChimp login credentials, and click Log In. 
  7. Check the boxes next to the lists you want to use to create your audience, and click Create Audience.
